Remember

When I come to the end of my journey

And you think of my days on this earth,

What do I hope you'll remember?

What will my life have been worth?

Don't measure my days by my riches,

My good works, or the friends I have known.

Such things are just temporal treasures,

And won't last past the day I am gone.

The thing I most hope you remember

When I'm swept to my home up above,

Is a life that was changed by His mercy,

And a heart that reflected His love.

I hope that it's HIM you remember

When I come to the end of my days.

And as my life you remember,

I hope that it's HIM you will praise!

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. Philippians 3:7-9
